LITURGICAL
CORNER
Did
you know. . .
- Only one ambo/pulpit/lectern is used for proclaiming all the Biblical Readings.
This preference holds for the Psalm as well, although the GIRM does
provide that the Psalm might be sung from “another suitable place.”
- The Book of the Gospels or Lectionary should never be handled as if
they were ordinary books. In
some cases it may be necessary to remove these books from the ambo for
logistical reasons. In such a
case, they should be placed upon a shelf or perhaps an auxiliary credence
table in the sanctuary.
- The Prayers of the Faithful are announced from the ambo or another
suitable place, by the deacon or by a cantor, a lector, or by one of the
faithful. The people give
expression to their prayer by a response or by praying
in silence.
