Father Mike Celebrated 35th Anniversary of Ordination in the Priesthood

The members of the joint Sacred Heart and Holy Trinity Parish Council hosted an open house at Sacred Heart rectory following all Masses the weekend of May 17 and 18, to celebrate the 35th Anniversary of Ordination in the priesthood of their pastor, Rev. Michael W. Rzonca.  The open house was attended by many parishioners and friends who gathered to congratulate Father Mike on this special occasion.   Father Mike began his anniversary weekend celebration with the Saturday, 4 p.m. Mass at Holy Trinity Church and concluded the weekend with the Sunday, 11 a.m.  Mass of celebration at Sacred Heart Church.   The “Color Corps” of the Knights of Columbus (Kimberton branch) participated in these Masses as a “thank you” to Father Mike for his unselfish 35 years of service to God’s people.  In Father Mike’s thirty-five years in the priesthood, he has served for the past six years as pastor to some one thousand families of the faith community of Sacred Heart and Holy Trinity parishes.  Prior to that, he had served the families of St. Ann Church, Phoenixville and St. Joseph Church in Spring City, as well as numerous inmates at Graterford Prison.   His ministry also encompassed service to the mentally challenged and homeless of Philadelphia and to numerous other parishioners throughout the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.   Father Mike is the son of Joseph and the late Julia Rzonca and is the second of eight children.  He entered the seminary in the fall of 1967 and was ordained a priest on May 19, 1973.    Father Mike’s interests include gardening, cooking and music.  Father Mike plays the violin, flute and clarinet.  The people of Sacred Heart and Holy Trinity are honored to be graced by Father Mike’s pastorate and service.
